THE TUNBRIDGE WELLS HOMEOPATHIC HOSPITAL HAS A LONG TRADITION OF HELPING INTEGRATE COMPLEMENTARY MEDICINE INTO CONVENTIONAL MEDICINE.
Being an NHS homeopathic patient is being treated as a whole person.
The doctors at Tunbridge Wells take time to talk to their patients, for example, so as to obtain a complete picture of the patient’s symptoms and health. They then have access to thousands of remedies or combinations of remedies known to relieve symptoms and promote healing. Because they are within the NHS they are also able to refer the patient onto other services (including conventional ones) if necessary.
Homoeopathy has come in for much criticism recently. But much of this criticism is unjustified. NHS homeopathic services are poorly understood. At Tunbridge Wells, the clinic provides a range of clinical techniques; for example, it treats cancer patients with a special treatment which boosts immune system response.
Experience and knowledge: There’s been a homeopathic hospital in Tunbridge Wells for over one-hundred years. The service is currently led by two consultants (Dr David Ratsey and Dr Helmut Roniger) supported by five other doctors. All are skilled in not just complementary techniques but also in conventional medical practice.
Help in complex illnesses: GPs are encouraged to send patients when either the patient is not sufficiently relieved of their symptoms or experience unacceptable side effects through conventional treatment.
The hospital is an educator – it runs a post-graduate course for doctors, dentists, physiotherapists and other professions allied to medicine.
